What is the language of instruction at MADE? 

Courses at MADE are taught in English with the exception of Italian language and Italian Studies courses.

Is MADE accredited? 

MADE - The Rosario Gagliardi Academy of Fine Arts is legally recognized by the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research (MIUR) and issues academic titles that are legally recognized internationally  (www.miur.it).

What is the student body like at MADE?  

MADE's student body is currently made up of about 70% Italian students and 30% international students. Across all programs, including full degree students, visiting international programs, and MADE lab workshops, the institution serves approximately 300 students each year. At MADE, we value our role as a small, hands-on institution. While we hope to grow, we remain committed to providing a supportive, close-knit environment for our students and serving as a reliable, trustworthy resource for our partners. 

What are the requirements to apply to MADE? 

Must be at least 18 years of age  

Open to undergraduate second year students and above 

2.5 cumulative GPA

Can students apply to MADE with a low GPA?

If a student’s cumulative GPA is below a 2.5, they may petition to participate in a MADE program by submitting a letter of recommendation as well as a personal statement along with their application. For more information, contact us by email. 

What is the easiest way to get to MADE? 

The Catania–Fontanarossa Airport (CTA) (also known as Vincenzo Bellini Airport) is the closest airport to MADE. 

MADE study abroad programs include airport transfer. 

Buses run directly from the Catania airport to Siracusa about once an hour for approximately 6 euro. The duration of the trip is about 55 minutes.   

Is Syracuse a safe city? 

Syracuse is one of the safest cities in Italy. The historic center is small and walkable with low crime rates. 

What is there to do around Syracuse? 

The Sites: 

  • The “Parco Archeologico Neapolis”  archeological park with the largest Greek Theater in the Mediterranean
  • Greek Temples to Apollo and Athena
  • The Castello Maniace fortress 
  • Beautiful Baroque city center with famous cathedrals, churches, and a vibrant outdoor market 
  • The island of Ortigia surrounded by the sea
